We have an exciting opportunity for a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt to drive and champion the company’s continuous improvement efforts utilizing Six Sigma techniques. The successful candidate will lead this initiative via a hands-on approach to project management at the site level. This will include assisting in setting the strategy for Six Sigma implementation, counseling site management for successful deployment, training, communication, etc..
The primary responsibility of this position is to drive continuous improvement through a very thorough understanding of Six Sigma techniques and accurately identifying change initiatives. To this end he/she will:
- Assist in developing standard work, to include layered monitoring of effective measures of KPIV & KPOVs.
- Drive the Six Sigma aspect of the overall continuous improvement processes at the site.
- Develop measurements to determine effectiveness/sustainment of Lean - Six Sigma initiatives and ensure adherence to control plans at the site.
- Anticipate change efforts needed when rolling out Six Sigma recommended changes
- Maintain the project plan for all major activities that drive value creation at the site.
- Ensure adherence to the plan through standard work processes and systems.
- Take systemic continuous improvement within the site to a new level – from learning to putting action plans into place as part of an overall company philosophy. Assist in developing the appropriate systems to support.
- Work directly with site management, other site champions, and corporate champions to ensure a consistent and effective continuous improvement process is driven into the site.
- Serve as the site expert consultant for all Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma needs.
- Coordinate the training and development process for site employees that are tailored appropriately for the identified audience.
- Work with site HR to ensure incentive programs are in place to support initiatives.
- Anticipate change efforts needed when rolling out aspects of broader organizational changes.
- Encourage innovation and exploration of non-traditional ideas; propose change initiatives to address current and future site needs.
- Plan twelve month rolling series of Kaizen events in support of the “Focus Value Stream”.
- Develop front line management personnel and assist them in the definition and execution of mini-Kaizens throughout the plant.
- Summarize event results and communicate to site and organization.
- Follow up to ensure the gains are maintained and built upon.
Required Qualifications:
- Black Belt in Six Sigma and certification in Lean Manufacturing preferred
- 4 Year College Degree in a Business or Technical major; Industrial Engineering Degree preferred
- Demonstrated mastery of both philosophies through two or more years of hands on project management experience with achievement of dramatic change
- Strong leadership skills; highly respected within the organization
- Ability to systematically plan course of action to ensure the accomplishment of objectives
- Ability to coach, consult, feedback and development resources to improve the effectiveness of the site
