GrafTech International Holdings, Inc. is a global company with over 100 years of experience in the carbon and graphite industry. We manufacture and provide high-quality natural and synthetic graphite and carbon products and services. Our Parma, Ohio, facility has an immediate opening for a Principal Engineer. The primary function of this position is to provide expertise in the field of new production equipment enhancements and to provide guidance in project engineering from concept to implementation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct innovative process equipment concept design requiring a high level of creativity of approach
  • Demonstrate exceptional skill in applying such designs to both existing and new plants 
  • Manage and oversee project throughout life cycle from concept to production 
  • Communicate with R&D staff to gain necessary awareness of current process, safety, and environmental needs and activities of the lines of business 
  • Continue to add to knowledge in synthetic graphite manufacturing equipment and as such, keeps management informed of such trends. 
  • Handles multiple projects with minimum supervision 
  • Makes clear and effective presentations 
  • Is recognized worldwide by management and peers as the resource for synthetic graphite manufacturing equipment

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in a branch of engineering; BSME desired
  • Advanced engineering degree preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of plant processes and problems related to production equipment; Synthetic graphite manufacturing knowledge desired
  • High level, experienced project engineering and project management skills 
  • Extensive practical knowledge gained through years of experience in relevant industry 
  • Minimum of five years experience in a strategic engineering role 
  • Experience in design and/or operations of production equipment (preferably related, but not limited to fields of bulk material handling; bin design; extrusion presses; gas fired furnaces; Pressure Vessels, purpose built machining equipment, purpose built handling equipment; plant control systems, special purpose cranes, etc.) 
  • Ability to manage large engineering projects of $5-15 million. 
  • Project Management certification preferred
