Henry R. Keizer was elected to the Board of Directors in 2021 and became Chairman in May 2023. Mr. Keizer formerly served as Deputy Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of KPMG, the U.S.-based and largest individual member firm of KPMG International, before his retirement in December 2012. Mr. Keizer currently serves as a director of Sealed Air Corporation (NYSE: SEE) and as a trustee of the BlackRock Multi-Asset Fund Complex. Mr. Keizer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, summa cum laude, from Montclair State University, New Jersey.
Catherine L. Clegg was elected to the Board of Directors in 2019. Ms. Clegg is a senior automotive industry executive with General Motors Company with extensive experience in manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, labor relations, public policy, and cultural transformation. Since May 2019, she has been the Vice President, Workforce Strategy, with the responsibility to integrate workforce strategy across General Motors, primarily among manufacturing and labor, global public policy, legal, human resources and other functions as necessary. Previously, she held the position of Vice President, Business Intelligence, Global Public Policy, from 2017 to 2019, where she led policy analysis and strategy; developing and aligning business priorities in the context of government policy initiatives in key countries and regions around the world. Ms. Clegg also previously led GM’s manufacturing operations and labor relations in the US, Canada, and Mexico as Vice President North America Manufacturing & Labor Relations from 2014 to 2017. She also served as Vice President Global Manufacturing Engineering from 2013 to 2014 and Vice President GMNA Labor Relations from 2010 to 2013. Ms. Clegg received her undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University and her MBA from University of Virginia Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. Ms. Clegg also earned a Master of Arts in Advanced Leadership Studies and completed extensive advanced coursework on Organizational Leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University, as well as executive education at Harvard University and Stanford University.
Michel J. Dumas was elected to the Board of Directors in 2018. He has over 30 years’ experience in the lumber, pulp and paper industries. From 1997 until 2017, Mr. Dumas served as the Executive Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer of Quebec based Tembec Inc. He also served on the Tembec Board of Directors from January 2011 to February 2017. Mr. Dumas served as a director of Marathon Pulp Inc., from February 2000 to February 2009, and of Jager Building Systems, from August 2001 to September 2008. From 1991 to 1997, he was Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer at Spruce Falls Inc., a newsprint producer. Prior to joining Spruce Falls, he served as Controller at Tembec, from 1985 to 1991. Mr. Dumas received his undergraduate degree in commerce from the University of Ottawa.
Debra Fine was elected to the Board of Directors in 2021. Ms. Fine founded Fine Capital Partners, a financial services firm located in New York, served as President and Chief Executive Officer from 2004 to January 2020, and has served as Chair of the firm since 2020. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Jean-Marc Germain was elected to the Board of Directors in 2021. Mr. Germain has served as Chief Executive Officer of Constellium SE (NYSE: CSTM), a designer and manufacturer of a broad range of innovative rolled and extruded aluminum products serving primarily the packaging, aerospace and automotive end-markets, since July 2016, and has been executive director of the board of Constellium since June 2016. Mr. Germain is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, France.
Marcel Kessler joined GrafTech as Chief Executive Officer and President and was elected to the Board of Directors in July 2022. Mr. Kessler previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Pason Systems Inc. (“Pason”), a global provider of specialized data management systems for oil and gas drilling, from 2011 to 2020, and has been a director of Pason since 2012 and is currently serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pason. Before joining Pason in 2011, Mr. Kessler was President, North America, of Exploration Logistics Group, an assistance, medical, safety and security solutions provider, President and Chief Executive Officer of CCR Technologies, a provider of solvent reclaiming services, and was a Partner at McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm. Mr. Kessler holds a Masters in Engineering with Distinction from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and a Masters in Finance from the London Business School.
Anthony R. Taccone was elected to the Board of Directors in 2018, with over 30 years’ consulting experience with companies in the global steel industry and with interests in the steel industry, including suppliers, customers and investors. Since March 1998, he has served as a Founding Partner and co-owner of First River LLC, a boutique strategy consulting firm. At First River, Mr. Taccone has worked with senior management teams, boards, investors and government agencies on challenging and complex issues facing companies in the steel industry, including financial restructurings, capacity rationalizations, mergers and acquisitions, major capital investment decisions, raw material integration strategies and investments in downstream businesses. Prior to joining First River, Mr. Taccone was a strategy consultant at Beddows & Company, from 1988 to 1998. From 1994 until 1998, he was the North American practice leader and served on the Beddows & Company Board of Directors. Prior to his career as a steel industry consultant, Mr. Taccone worked at Mellon Bank as a Country Risk Economist, from 1985 to 1987, and an Industry Economist from 1987 to 1988. He received his undergraduate degree in economics from Washington & Jefferson College and his master’s degree in economics from Duke University.
Denis A. Turcotte was elected to the Board of Directors in 2015 and served as Chairman from March 2018 to May 2023. Mr. Turcotte is currently a Managing Partner in Brookfield’s Private Equity Group, responsible for business operations. Prior to joining Brookfield in 2017, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of North Channel Management and North Channel Capital Partners, business consulting and private investing firms, from 2008 to 2017. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the general partner of Brookfield Business Partners L.P., an affiliate of Brookfield, from 2016 until he joined Brookfield in 2017. From 2002 to 2008, Mr. Turcotte was the President and CEO and a director of Algoma Steel Inc., a publicly listed North American steel company; and from 1992 to 2002, he held a number of senior executive positions with companies in the pulp and paper industry, including President of the paper group and Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy of Tembec Inc., a leading integrated forest products company with operations in North America and France. Since 2012 and 2007, Mr. Turcotte has been a Board member of Norbord Inc. and Domtar Corporation, respectively. He was previously a Board member of Coalspur Mines, Ltd., from 2010 to 2015, and Algoma Steel Inc., from 2002 to 2008. Mr. Turcotte holds a bachelor of engineering from Lakehead University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
Timothy K. Flanagan was appointed GrafTech’s Chief Financial Officer, Vice President Finance and Treasurer in November 2021. In this role, he oversees finance, investor relations, tax and treasury. Mr. Flanagan previously served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., a flat-rolled steel producer and supplier of iron ore pellets, from January 2017 to February 2019. Prior to being promoted to Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of Cleveland-Cliffs, he held a variety of financial leadership roles at Cleveland-Cliffs since joining in 2008, including being responsible for the accounting, reporting, treasury and financial planning and analysis functions and serving as the Vice President, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer from March 2012 to December 2016. Most recently, Mr. Flanagan served as Chief Financial Officer of Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff, LLP, an AmLaw 200 law firm, from June 2019 to November 2021. He has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Dayton and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Ohio.
Gina K. Gunning joined GrafTech as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary in July 2018. She has 25 years of law firm and in-house corporate legal experience across multiple industries. Prior to joining GrafTech, she was an Associate General Counsel at FirstEnergy Corp. from 2012 to 2018, where she was responsible for legal matters involving SEC reporting, business development, capital markets, as well as corporate and executive compensation topics. She also served as a partner at Jones Day. Ms. Gunning holds a Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Notre Dame.
Jeremy S. Halford was promoted to Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer in 2021 and previously served as Senior Vice President, Operations and Development since joining GrafTech in 2019. Prior to GrafTech, Mr. Halford served as the President of Arconic Engineered Structures, a producer of highly engineered titanium and aluminum components for the aerospace, defense and oil and gas markets, a position he held since January 2017. Mr. Halford also was President of Doncasters Aerospace, a manufacturer of components and assemblies for the civil and military aero engine and airframe markets, from 2014 to 2016, and Vice President, Global Business Development, Doncasters Group Limited from 2013 to 2014. Previously, he also was President of Mayfran International from 2012 to 2013, and spent seven years at Alcoa in a variety of general management and strategy roles. Mr. Halford holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from GMI Engineering and Management Institute (now Kettering University).
Iñigo Perez Ortiz joined GrafTech as Senior Vice President, Commercial in February 2020. Mr. Perez most recently served as Vice President, Europe and Asia, Sales and Customer Service at Alcoa Corporation, a global industry leader in bauxite, alumina, and aluminum products, a position he held since 2017. Previously at Alcoa, Mr. Perez was Commercial Director, Europe and Asia Pacific from 2011 to 2017, Sales Manager, Europe from 2007 to 2011 and Sales Office Manager from 2002 to 2007. Prior to his career at Alcoa, Mr. Perez served in a variety of senior commercial roles at Autopulit S.A., Warner Electric and Babcock Wilcox Espanola, S.A. Mr. Perez holds a Master in Industrial Plans Management, Lean Manufacturing and Engineering degree from Polytechnic University of Barcelona, an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Instituto de Empresa and a Mining Engineer degree from the University of the Basque Country.
